The Magic of Bed and Breakfasts: What to Expect from These Hidden Gems

Are you a hotel hopper? Or maybe an Airbnber? You’ve globe trotted and found yourself in the same box with a mattress in every city? Wow, you and I must have something in common! I’m sure, like me, you’ve spent your time combing through trip advisor or finding what Hilton your points will cover but after all is said and done, your trip still feels like your a stranger looking from the outside. Maybe you’re looking for something different – an experience that makes you feel like you now have friends all over the world. Well, welcome to the world of B&B, Bestie. You may find yourself a little scared at first, scared of the unknown, scared of eating breakfast with strangers, But hopefully, by the end, you’ll find yourself craving that authentic experience you’ll be tell stories about for years to come.

  • A Warm and Personal Welcome
One of the best parts of a Bed and Breakfast stay is the warm welcome you receive upon arrival. Many B&B owners live on-site and greet each guest upon arrival. Like family returning home after a long time away, each B&B attemps to make each guest feel like they are part of the family. Showing you to your room, carrying your bags (without having to tip) and even offering a drink or small snack are not unheard of in the B&B world. Your not just a reservation to them, your an honored guest in their home.

  • Charming Rooms with Character.
Whether small and cozy or historic and grand, B&B rooms run the gamut with what they offer. Beautifully appointed in a style set by the B&B owners, each space in each property gives a different vibe. Whether staying in a historic home with grand fireplaces and stone walls or a modern farmhouse with Fixer Upper touches, you’ll find something for everyone.
  • A Delicious Homemade Breakfast
Whipped up in a kitchen just off the dining room, these yummy meals are ones to write home about. Whether a light continental or a full 3 course meal, these meals are homemade and many times made with local ingredients or recipes. For those who have experienced a B&B breakfast, they will tell you they always leave with a full belly. Not just that but true connection with other travelers and locals is always on the table. (For those who fear eating breakfast with strangers – check out our FAQ for more info on breakfast.)
  • Insider Tips and Local Hospitality
One hidden amenity that every local B&B has is a built in concierge service. People who run B&B’s do so because they love the area. They love being in the community. So why not ask them where to go? Avoid unnecessary tourist traps and find the hidden gems that only locals know about by asking your B&B host what they know. Not only that, but some B&B’s have connections with local tourist attractions and can offer you a discount. Just ask! (For more on that, check out our Insider Tips.)
