At Lancaster’s family-friendly farm B&Bs, guests are invited to step into daily farm life in a way that feels both welcoming and memorable. Kids can gather eggs straight from the hen house, feed goats and calves, or even try their hand at milking a cow, while parents relax and take in the peaceful countryside. Many of these stays are set on working farms, where interacting with animals and helping with light chores is all part of the experience. By the time breakfast is served, everyone has already earned it. Plates are filled with farm-fresh eggs, homemade breads, and whatever is in season, often gathered just steps away. It’s the kind of meal that brings everyone together, lingering a little longer at the table, sharing stories before heading out for another day on the farm. photo credit for above photo: rockyacre.com
- Frush Farm Bed & Breakfast (1301 Fritztown Rd, Reinholds, PA 17569)
In the lush countryside of the Northern part of Lancaster County is this charming family farm owned by Richard and Nancy. Originally in 2005, Frush Farm began as a 6.5-acre property, once part of a much larger 150-acre farm, with land primarily used as horse pasture and lawns. On November 16, 2015, Frush Farm Bed & Breakfast opened, featuring three rooms in the farmhouse, a first-floor suite, and a spacious 1,100-square-foot studio apartment, providing guests with a truly “down-to-earth” experience that encourages disconnecting and immersing in the natural surroundings. Committed to sustainability, the farm focuses on eco-friendly practices that balance food production with environmental stewardship, including using a wood stove for heat, a solar electric fence for animals, a well and hand pump for water, and a gas, non-digital cook stove, along with recycling, line-drying clothes, and maintaining the ability to operate independently with heat, water, and cooking even during power outages. They offer fun interactive workshops for guests like cheesemaking, pie making, gardening for children, and more. With two guest rooms and two suites available, this cozy place in the country is perfect for an intimate family getaway. photo credit: frushfarm.com

“I can’t say enough nice things about this place! Breakfast was made from all fresh ingredients from their farm. The couple who owns the farm are lovely people. The farm is very nice, and you’re able to take a tour with them to see their animals. Reservation also comes with access to a nearby pool, which was a Godsend since the temperature was in the 90s when we were there. If I ever go back to the area, I would definitely book here again!” (5 Stars – Matthew C.)
“This is our first time visiting here and it won’t be our last. The couple running this place was so warm and welcoming. The place was super clean and the breakfast was delicious. My tween had the best time hanging out with the animals and we both had a lovely time.” (5 Stars – Susan K.)
“Nancy and Richard are incredible people who are so passionate about treating the Earth and people with kindness and love” (5 Stars – Marissa H.)

We truly feel blessed to have had time in this beautiful space and to have met such passionate and inspirational individuals. This needs to be on your bucket list!” (5 stars – Marissa Z.)

“If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet, perfect get away, this is the place for you! We only stayed one night but wished we were there longer.
Ann & Gary really know how to make you feel at home and accommodated! We arrived a little late after spending the day at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Festival and Gary was very flexible with our arrival. We were greeted by Gary with some extremely friendly cats. Our favorite was Chatty who we were told just showed up to the farm as a kitten one day. Chatty greeted us in the morning as well over breakfast. The room was wonderful with perfect amenities from a small kitchen, to a whirlpool bathtub, to a large shower, and comfy recliners to stretch out our legs after a long day walking around the fair. Gary took us on a tour of the room ensuring we understood how everything worked including the cozy fireplace to keep us comfy at night. The bed was soft with fluffy blankets and we were able to have a glorious easy morning with a delicious breakfast served in a basket (see food details below).
We wished we could have stayed longer but were only there for the night. We definitely plan on going back. It was the perfect get away.” (5 Stars – Brianna G.)
“My husband and I are local to Lancaster but stayed here this past weekend as a winter getaway and we couldn’t have had a more relaxing, luxurious stay! We had the Chicken Coop which was immaculately clean and incredibly cozy with a fireplace, 2 comfy recliners and a jacuzzi tub. It was bright, homey and well appointed with a kitchenette and dining area. Bed was super comfortable and we slept so soundly! No single review could do the breakfast justice….not only is it delivered to your doorstep, but it includes huge portions of the most delicious foods and juices. Anne and Gary are the friendliest people who obviously care deeply about making others feel at home. Beautiful grounds, even in winter. Can’t wait to return in spring or fall and enjoy the Beautiful outdoor spaces!! Don’t miss this gem tucked away but still so close to everything people come to Lancaster County for! “We stayed one night at the Olde Fogie Farm and it was a wonderful experience. At arrival we were greeted by Biz, who instantly made us feel like home. The garden room has one queen bed and a private bathroom with shower attached to it. The room was very well kept and decorative.
In the morning, we enjoyed the morning chores which made us feel closer to the animals than ever before. We got to feed the animals, milk the goat, and collect chicken eggs. After that, we sat down and enjoyed hot home-made breakfast, great conversation with the hosts, and a nice background music. There were plenty of spaces around the farm to sit back, relax, and appreciate the nature. This place was a totally delightful pleasure. Perfect for couples and families.” (5 Stars – Joy C.)
“Great experience for our 9yr old, 4 yr old and 2yr old. Plenty of live animals to keep the little ones entertained, morning chores to earn fresh eggs, and a variety of areas to relax or let the kids play. Great weekend recommendation for families with young children.” (5 Stars – Dave R.)
“I first visited the Old Fogie farm about 25 years ago as a kid. I was just recently fortunate enough to stay there again, this time with my own children. The Old Fogie Farm is a wonderful, friendly place, and great for kids. They will take care of you and make you feel welcome. After wading in the koi pond, taking part in farm chores, and playing in the treehouse, my son was ready to declare that the Old Fogie Farm was better than Disney.” ( 5 Stars – Brendan G.)

“What a wonderful and welcoming place! A true hidden gem in the Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Reasonable prices for a wonderful experience on a working g farm. Kids get to feed the calves, pick chicken eggs, and hangout with a herd of goats. The owners are incredibly welcoming and there doing hayrides and tractors rides for the kids. Really a great place and hopefully they have space for us to come back!” (5 Stars – Rich H.)
“We just got back from a weekend with our 3 1/2 year-old granddaughter. It was one of the best vacations we’ve ever had. It was very relaxing for us adults, and a source of never ending joy for our granddaughter. She loved feeding milk bottles to the cows, collecting eggs from the chicken house, and finding a blue egg! She loved playing with all the children that were staying there with their families, and spent much time in the full-size Playhouse with them, and petting the kittens that were around the farm house. She loved the tractor rides, and visiting the goats and miniature horse. She got a real kick out of waiting for breakfast with everyone and going in when the breakfast bell was rung. Breakfast was great! Coffee was great! We were early to bed and early to rise, and had great conversations with the other families that were staying there. Really well done, and worth the trip.” (5 Stars – Suzanne P.)
“Rocky acres farm is one of the most amazing places I’ve ever spent time at from the rooms to the food to the most importantly
… the people.. the family that runs this farm are amazing people and you will have a great time with lots to do, especially for the children. We have been going here since our children were very small and now they’re in college and we still come here it just is so amazing and I feel like I’m visiting family not just going to some in but actually going to a home and spending time with family that’s what it is. God bless them. But LOL watch out for the kittens if you don’t pay attention you’ll end up with a kitten coming home with you.” (5 Stars – Steve C.)

If you’re looking for a place that feels genuinely warm and inviting, Verdant View Farm is one I’d definitely recommend. It’s a fifth-generation, 99-acre working farm where you can meet the animals, explore the property, and really slow down and enjoy the experience. They’ve been hosting guests since 1967, and the family-style breakfasts with homegrown ingredients make it feel less like a stay and more like you’re part of the farm. “We’ve been visiting Verdant View for about 5 or 6 years now, and it truly feels like our home away from home. The owners are always so kind and accommodating, and staying in the main house brings that cozy, country charm we love. It’s the perfect breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
One of our favorite parts of every stay is the Morning Chores. The kids absolutely love it. milking the cows, collecting fresh chicken eggs, feeding the cows and goats, and of course spending time cuddling the bunnies. It’s such a unique, hands-on experience that they talk about long after we leave.
Their breakfast is always amazing, homemade and hearty, and starts the day off perfectly. And we can’t forget the adorable farm cats who wander around and make the whole place feel even more welcoming. Verdant View is a place where simple moments become special memories. We look forward to it every year.” (5 Stars – Tammy S.)
“We had a great stay at Verdant View Farms last weekend. The staff are friendly and helpful. The home is cozy and unique. This is a working farm and so there are animals all around. My daughter loved playing with the cats and the friendly farm dog that roams that grounds. Breakfast was delicious! Probably the best part of the stay was meeting the other guests and some of the workers over breakfast. We had a chance to meet Evan, one of the farm hands and hear his story. We had a great conversation that lasted through the entire meal. We will certainly try to stay here again the next time we are in the area.” (5 Stars – Steve M.)
“We had a wonderful time at Verdant View back in June. I have three children, ages 10, 7, and 3. We did farm chores two mornings (led by Tre and Pat).
Without a doubt, Verdant View will be a core memory for our children, and for us! Pat, Elisa, and Tre are really good people who are passionate about their animals, the land they live on, and providing a special experience for their guests. This was such a special weekend. We are all still talking about it, months later. Huge thank you to Verdant View for sharing your farm and home with us!” (5 Stars – Allison L.)
